Month 14 - How to support development of the child in the 14th month?
- set rules and firmly adhere to them;
- play games involving physical exercise with your child (like rolling on a carpet, playing with a ball);
- give your child building blocks, sorters and more complex toys (like jigsaw puzzles consisting of few large elements);
- provide your child with new sensory impressions, play using play or salt dough;
- read books to your child;
- speak a lot to your child and name various activities and objects;
- let your child eat itself (even if it means mess);
- let your child dress itself or help with activities;
- point new things to your child (of different shapes and texture), animals, and plants;
- take your child to places where it has not been yet (like a park with a fountain, a park with animals, a new playground, a swimming pool);
- show your child plenty of tenderness, but at the same time, teach it independence;
- talk with your child - ask questions and give it time to answer them, react to what it says, and tell it about things to which it points;
- let your child make simple decision (e.g., select one of two T-shirts to wear);
- play at “obstacle courses” constructed of cushions, balls, building blocks, etc.
