Month 18 - What can the child do in the 18th month of its life?
Each baby develops at their own pace and you should not panic when it gains new skills at a slightly slower pace than its age peers. The 18 months child already can:
- walk independently;
- climb up and down stairs using a handrail or an assistance of other person;
- attempt running and walking backwards;
- climb up a sofa or a ladder set at an angle;
- climb down backwards from a sofa;
- say a few words;
- perform simple commands and understand prohibitions;
- mimic different voices (especially animals);
- observe its surroundings and draw conclusions (e.g., know that a locked door means you need to turn a key in the lock).
