Month 22 - How to support development of the child in the 22nd month?

To support development of the child in the 22nd month, you should:

  • ensure it has plenty of exercise every day - take your toddler to a playground, long walks, to a forest, to a park, to a playroom, etc.;
  • read it books and show illustrations, describing what is in them;
  • praise its achievements (even the smallest ones);
  • teach it to share (e.g., by offering others some snacks);
  • talk a lot with it;
  • train its memory;
  • encourage it to plan (e.g., by asking what it wants to paint);
  • enable it to have contacts with its age peers;
  • support it with performing activities on its own (but never do its job for it);
  • establish rules and consistently adhere to them;
  • ensure it has a safe environment to play in;
  • show it understanding when it rebels;
  • be a role model for it (e.g., do not eat sweets when it can see you, when you are trying to convince it that they are unhealthy).
