Mommy, I'm like a rutabaga (34.6cm, 660 grams)
I now consciously respond to various external stimuli - touch of your hand on the belly, bright light, loud sounds. I can move away from them or toward them. Nostrils, which were previously closed, begin opening, and first breathing movements help lung development by moving amniotic fluid in the airways. Skin becomes less transparent thanks to developing subcutaneous tissue. Brain structure becomes more complex - first folds and grooves develop, increasing the cerebral cortex surface area. Blood circulates at about 4 miles per hour through my body.
Remember mom, every child develops at their own pace and has their unique timeline. If you have any doubts about my development in your belly, consult with a doctor.
